Étienne Clavière (29 January 1735 – 8 December 1793) was a Genevan-born French financier and politician of the French Revolution. He was the French Minister of Finance between 24 March and 12 June 1792, and between 10 August 1792 and 2 June 1793.

Véritable tribun de la plèbe à Genève depuis les années 1760, Clavière prend la tête d’un gouvernement révolutionnaire en 1782, aussitôt soutenu par la plume de jeunes contestataires français de l’absolutisme monarchique comme Honoré-Gabriel Riqueti de Mirabeau 4 et Jacques-Pierre Brissot 5.
Étienne Clavière (ātyĕn´ klävyĕr´), 1735–93, French financier. A merchant and banker of Geneva, he participated (1782) in the popular revolution at Geneva and was forced to leave when the aristocrats returned to power in the same year. He settled in Paris.
Après la mort de Jean-Jacques CLAVIÈRE, le père, décédé le 19 juin 1776, Étienne CLAVIÈRE laissa dans l’entreprise la part de la commandite paternelle qui lui revenait dans la succession, partagée par moitié avec son frère Jean- Jacques.
