Edward Hugh John Neale Dalton, Baron Dalton, PC (16 August 1887 – 13 February 1962) was a British Labour Party economist and politician who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1945 to 1947.

7 de mar. de 2021 · Hugh Dalton was one of the dominant figures in the history of the Labour party and Chancellor of the Exchequer, from July 1945 to November 1947, at a vital time. According to Ben Pimlott, he was the first truly socialist Chancellor, imposing redistributive taxation ‘with a song in his heart’.
