Edmund Pendleton (born Sept. 9, 1721, Caroline County, Virginia—died Oct. 26, 1803, Caroline County, Va., U.S.) was a Virginia patriot during the American Revolution. Pendleton’s father and grandfather died the year of his birth, and the young man grew up without paternal care.

6 de jul. de 2016 · Pendleton was named Chief Justice of the newly created High Court of Chancery in 1777, where his associates were George Wythe and Robert Carter Nicholas. In 1789 Pendleton left the chancery court and took on the role of Chief Justice of the Court of Appeals, the highest court in the Commonwealth.
On October 23, 1803, Edmund Pendleton’s death came as a shock to the Governor’s Council where his attendance had been expected that morning. At 83 years of age, he was still a venerated figure in national politics.
