He was educated at Cargilfield School, Edinburgh and Winchester College. He read medieval history at the University of St Andrews and holds an MBA from Henley Management College.

Biography. James Younger, 5th Viscount Younger of Leckie, is an elected hereditary peer who won the "Lords by-election" to replace the Earl of Northesk who died in 2010. In January 2023 he was appointed a junior minister for Work and Pensions, with responsibilities including: spokesperson for DWP business in the House of Lords.
