Burkhard Jung (born 7 March 1958 in Siegen) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been the 21st lord mayor (Oberbürgermeister) of Leipzig since March 29, 2006.
Burkhard Jung ist ein deutscher Politiker. Er ist seit März 2006 der Oberbürgermeister von Leipzig. Er war von 2019 bis 2021 Präsident des Deutschen Städtetags und ist seit 2021 dessen Vizepräsident.
Oberbürgermeister Burkhard Jung. Neben dem Stadtrat ist der Oberbürgermeister das zweite Hauptorgan der Stadt Leipzig. Als Vorsitzender der Ratsversammlung besitzt er ein Stimmrecht wie die Stadträte. Weiterhin leitet er die Stadtverwaltung und ist deren gesetzlicher Vertreter nach außen.
