Franz Gürtner ( Ratisbona, 26 de agosto de 1881- Berlín, 29 de enero de 1941) fue un político alemán, miembro del Partido Nacional del Pueblo Alemán y del Partido Nazi, ministro de Justicia entre 1932 y 1941 durante la República de Weimar y el Tercer Reich.
Reich Minister of Justice 1931-1941. After completing secondary education, Gürtner studied law at the University of Munich. In 1911, he became public prosecutor for the Munich I Land Court. He was then appointed Munich District Court judge in 1912.
After the beginning of the war, the jurisdiction of the People’s Courts was broadened even more, and by 1945 it had issued thousands of death sentences. This photograph shows Minister of Justice Franz Gürtner delivering a speech at the opening of the first session of the People’s Court in the former Manor House [Herrenhaus] in Berlin.
