William Thomas Denison, KCB (3 de mayo de 1804 – 19 de enero de 1871) fue Teniente Gobernador de Tierra de Van Diemen (actual Tasmania) entre 1847 y 1855, Gobernador de Nueva Gales del Sur entre 1855 y 1861, y Gobernador de Madrás entre 1861 y 1866.
Sir William Thomas Denison KCB (3 May 1804 – 19 January 1871) was Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land from 1847 to 1855, Governor of New South Wales from 1855 to 1861, and Governor of Madras from 1861 to 1866.
William Denison, 1st Earl of Londesborough. Baron Londesborough, of Londesborough in the East Riding of the County of York, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1850 for the diplomat and Whig politician Lord Albert Denison. He was the third son of Henry Conyngham, 1st Marquess Conyngham, and his wife Elizabeth Denison.
Sir William Thomas Denison (1804-1871), governor-general, was born on 3 May 1804 in London, son of John Denison and his second wife Charlotte, née Estwick.

Even more tenuous, but logical, is that William Denison, who was about to pass 60 years of age and whose family had already begun to scatter across the Midwest to Iowa and Missouri, was looking for a legacy. He was a bachelor farmer with success, but no sons, and no wife to give him sons.
William commissioned designs from the architect John Carr (1723-1787) for a garden temple at Ossington, and a new church and mausoleum. He died at Bath in 1782, and his estates passed to his younger brother Robert Denison, a partner in William's business enterprises.
