Christopher J. Waller is an American economist who is a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors since 2020. A nominee of then-President Donald Trump , he was confirmed by the Senate in December 2020, to serve through January 2030.
Christopher J. Waller took office as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on December 18, 2020, to fill an unexpired term ending January 31, 2030. Prior to his appointment at the Board, Dr. Waller served as executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis since 2009.
His principal research interests are monetary theory, political economy, and macroeconomic theory. Before his appointment to the Board, Waller was an executive vice president and the director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis from June 2009 through December 2020.
