Stepan Nikolayevich Khalturin (Russian: Степан Николаевич Халтурин; 2 January [O.S. 21 December] 1857 – 3 April [O.S. 22 March] 1882) was a Russian revolutionary, member of Narodnaya Volya, and responsible for an attempted assassination of Alexander II of Russia.
Stepan Khalturin managed to escape and continue his terrorist activity. He was hanged in Odessa in 1882 for taking part in the murder of a military prosecutor in Kiev.
The leaders of the Union were Stepan Khalturin, a joiner, and Victor Obnorsky, a mechanic. The Union organised strikes and issued a number of proclamations. It had a membership of over 200. In 1879 the Union was suppressed by the tsarist government.
