Nina Mary Benita Douglas-Hamilton, Duchess of Hamilton (née Nina Mary Benita Poore; 13 May 1878 – 12 January 1951) was a Scottish peeress of English birth and animal rights activist.

12 de oct. de 2013 · Nina Mary Benita Poore was the daughter of Major Robert Poore and Juliana Benita Lowry-Corry. She married Alfred Douglas Douglas-Hamilton, 13th Duke of Hamilton, in 1901. They had four sons and three daughters. In 1903 she co-founded the Animal Defence and Anti-Vivisection Society.
Nina Douglas-Hamilton, Duchess of Hamilton and Brandon, died after catching a chill from which she never recovered. Returning home from having brought a petition, signed by over 200 societies, to a private audience with the Pope, she got stuck in a snowstorm and developed a throat condition.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary was founded in Dorset, England by Nina Douglas-Hamilton, Duchess of Hamilton at the beginning of the Second World War. Since 1975 it has been sited near Wambrook, Somerset. Beginning. The Duchess was a noted anti-vivisectionist, and was horrified at the British Pet Holocaust.
