Elizabeth Washington Lewis (June 20, 1733 – March 31, 1797) was an American Colonist. She was the younger sister of George Washington and the only sister that survived childhood. Her half-sister, Jane, died at age 11 and her sister Mildred in infancy.
Betty Washington Lewis was more than just the only sister of George Washington to survive to adulthood; she was also a patriot. Lewis and her husband, Fielding, contributed a considerable amount of their personal wealth and time toward the American Revolution.

She was the second child and only surviving daughter of Augustine and Mary Ball Washington and the sister of George Washington, the first President of the United States. As a member of Virginia’s gentry, she most likely received a traditional education of both practical and ornamental skills.

Betty Lewis was a capable plantation manager, mother, and helpmeet who raised eleven children and, together with Fielding, made their home in Fredericksburg, known today as Kenmore, a center of local hospitality.
