20 de jul. de 1998 · Francis Throckmorton (born 1554—died July 20, 1584) was an English conspirator, the central figure in the unsuccessful Throckmorton Plot to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I. Throckmorton came from a staunch Roman Catholic family and was the nephew of Sir Nicholas Throckmorton, a diplomat for Elizabeth.
The plot is named after the key conspirator, Sir Francis Throckmorton, cousin of Bess Throckmorton, lady in waiting to Queen Elizabeth. Throckmorton was arrested in November 1583 and executed on 10 July 1584.
