Arlette de Falaise (ou Herleva, Erlève, Herlève, Herlotte, Herlotte note 1 ), née vers 1010 et morte vers 1050 1, est la concubine du duc de Normandie Robert le Magnifique. Elle est la mère de Guillaume de Normandie puis, après son mariage avec Herluin de Conteville, de deux autres fils : Odon de Bayeux et Robert de Mortain .
Herleva or Arlette was the mother of William the Conqueror. According to later legend, she was a young woman in the town of Falaise who attracted the attention of Duke Robert of Normandy when she was washing in the river near his castle, and he took her for his mistress.
Orderic reports the birth of William as occurring at Falaise, in Normandy, presumed to be Herleva's native town, apparently during 1026/7. In a separate addition to the Gesta, Orderic relates an anecdote that has given rise to Fulbert being characterized with more humble origins, as a tanner.

Cuenta la leyenda que al regresar de los bosques llenos de caza, el joven duque Robert vio a una joven lavando ropa en la fuente de Val d'Ante, al pie del castillo. Se trata de Arlette, hija de Foubert, comerciante peletero de la ciudad. Robert se enamora de ella y la lleva al castillo.
Legends states the young Duke Robert I of Normandy was on the walkway of his castle at Falaise looking down at the river and discovered a beautiful young girl washing clothes. He asked to see her and she became his mistress. She would become the mother of William the Conqueror.
