Yokcushlu, conocida como Fuegia Basket (Tierra del Fuego, c. 1821-Íb., c. 1883), fue una nativa kawésqar de Tierra del Fuego. Es conocida por haber sido tomada como cautiva en 1830 por Robert FitzRoy , capitán del HMS Beagle , junto a otros tres indígenas fueguinos.
Yokcushlu ( c. 1821 – c. 1883) was a Kawésqar woman from the western Tierra del Fuego. In 1830, at the age of nine, she was taken hostage by the crew of the British vessel HMS Beagle and renamed " Fuegia Basket ". Robert FitzRoy, captain of the Beagle, initially intended to trade her for a stolen boat.

11 de oct. de 2023 · That girl, named Yokcushlu, was of the Alacaluf group (“alikhoolip,” in FitzRoy’s writing). They named her Fuegia Basket to remember the basket-like canoe they use and “by which we received intelligence of the loss of our boat” (King et al., 1939a, p. 411). She was the first native aboard.
