Moses Carver (29 August 1812 – 19 December 1910) [1] was a German-American settler and adoptive father of George Washington Carver, his former slave . Biography. Moses Carver was born in Dayton, Ohio. On August 11, 1834, he married Susan Blue in Springfield, Illinois. [1] .
