El barón Pontus De la Gardie o Ponce de La Gardie (Caunes-Minervois, circa 1520 - río Narva, Rusia, 5 de noviembre de 1585) fue un general y diplomático francés que estuvo al servicio de Dinamarca y Suecia.
De la Gardie was the most renowned military commander in Sweden during the 16th century and has been credited with much of the country's military success in the 1580s. An example of his ingenuity was the strategy of using zigzag shaped saps during the siege of Narva, a new technique at the time.

Pontus De la Gardie (1520–1585), Governor of Swedish Estonia (1574–1575) and (1583–1585), married Sofia Johansdotter Gyllenhielm, illegitimate daughter of John III of Sweden. Jacob De la Gardie (1583–1652), Swedish statesman and a soldier, son of Pontus. Led the Swedish army to Moscow.
9 de jul. de 2020 · Pontus de la Gardie was a French nobleman who ended up fighting in Swedish service against the Russians, being given the Livonian governorate as a reward, who died in 1585 (the most common though looking into publications I've seen 1580 and 1583 also listed) by drowning. What's not clear is how this drowning took place.
