Erich Kempka (16 September 1910 – 24 January 1975) was a member of the SS in Nazi Germany who served as Adolf Hitler's primary chauffeur from 1936 to April 1945. He was present in the area of the Reich Chancellery on 30 April 1945, when Hitler shot himself in the Führerbunker.

By 1932, Kempka—at 22 years of age—was driving Hitler around Germany. Though Hitler was a year from the chancellorship at that point, his status as leader of the National Socialist Party had already put fine motorcars at his disposal. Invariably, they wore the Mercedes-Benz star atop their grilles.
Erich Kempka, the son of a coal-miner, was born in Oberhausen on 16th September 1910. One of ten children, after leaving school he worked as a mechanic in the car industry. Kempka joined the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) on 1st April 1930. He became a member of the Schutzstaffel (SS) two years later.
