Edward John Thye (April 26, 1896 – August 28, 1969) was an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, he was the 26th governor of Minnesota from 1943 to 1947 and a United States Senator from 1947 to 1959.
EDWARD J. THYE, the twenty-sixth governor of Minnesota, was born near Frederick, South Dakota on April 26, 1896. His education was attained at the Tractor and Internal Combustion School in Minneapolis, at the American Business College, and at the University of Minnesota, where he graduated in 1918.

Edward John Thye (26 April 1896-28 August 1969) was the Republican Governor of Minnesota from 27 April 1943 to 8 January 1947 (succeeding Harold Stassen and preceding Luther Youngdahl) and a US Senator from 3 January 1947 to 3 January 1959 (succeeding Henrik Shipstead and preceding Eugene McCarthy).
The 1944 Minnesota gubernatorial election took place on November 7, 1944. Republican Party of Minnesota candidate Edward John Thye defeated Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party challenger Byron G. Allen.
