3 de nov. de 2020 · Thomas Cecil, Earl of Exeter, his first wife, two daughters and his son are buried in a vault in St John the Baptist's chapel in Westminster Abbey. In the centre of the chapel is a large altar tomb with two recumbent marble effigies of Thomas and his first wife Dorothy Neville, daughter of Lord Latimer of Belvoir Castle.

In 1605 Thomas Cecil was created Earl of Exeter in the Peerage of England (on the same day his half-brother was created Earl of Salisbury). Thomas was succeeded by his eldest son William Cecil, the second Earl. He served as Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire.
