John Seymour, 4th Duke of Somerset and 3rd Marquess of Hertford (before 1646 – 29 April 1675) was an English peer and MP. Life. He was the only surviving son of William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset, and Lady Frances Devereux.
John Seymour, 4th Duke of Somerset (1629–1675), uncle, inherited the estate in 1671 on the death of the 3rd Duke, and in 1672 he rebuilt Totnam Lodge and redesigned the deer park, which at that date included long tree-lined walks and a deer "chase".
John Seymour, 4th Duke of Somerset was born after 1626. He was the son of William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset and Lady Frances Devereux. 1 He married Sarah Alston, daughter of Sir Edward Alston, in 1661. 1 He died on 29 April 1675, without issue. 1

On 29 Apr 1675 John Seymour 4th Duke Somerset (age 30) died. He was buried at Salisbury Cathedral [Map]. His first cousin once removed Francis Seymour 5th Duke Somerset 1658-1678 (age 17) succeeded 5th Duke Somerset, 5th Earl Hertford. Marquess Hertford extinct. On 02 Sep 1692 [his former wife] Sarah Alston Duchess Somerset 1642-1692 (age 50) died.
