Robert Gerard Tapert (/ ˈ t æ p ər t /; born May 14, 1955) is an American film and television producer, writer and director, best known for co-creating the television series Xena: Warrior Princess. He is also one of the founding partners of the film production companies Renaissance Pictures and Ghost House Pictures.

Writer-director-producer Robert Tapert created the series in 1995 under his production tag, Renaissance Pictures, with executive producers R. J. Stewart (who developed the series along with Tapert) and Sam Raimi.
Surprisingly, the scene has literary influences: the film's producer Rob Tapert suggested it was directly inspired by Shakespeare's Macbeth, and Great Birnam Wood seemingly coming to life.
