Louis de Lorraine, cardinal de Guise et prince-évêque de Metz (21 October 1527, in Joinville, Champagne – 29 March 1578, in Paris) was a French Roman Catholic cardinal and Bishop during the Italian Wars and French Wars of Religion.
25 de may. de 2024 · Louis I de Lorraine, cardinal de Guise was the brother of François, 2nd duc de Guise. Named bishop of Troyes (1545) and of Albi (1550), he became in 1553 “cardinal de Guise”—to distinguish him from his brother, the eminent Charles, cardinal de Lorraine (q.v.).

He is also known as the first Cardinal of Guise; as the second Cardinal of Lorraine; and in 1550, after the death of his uncle, Jean de Lorraine (1518), as the first Cardinal of Lorraine.
