George Leonard Carey, Baron Carey of Clifton PC (born 13 November 1935) is a retired Anglican bishop who was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1991 to 2002, having previously been the Bishop of Bath and Wells.

George Carey (born November 13, 1935, London, England) is a theologian noted for his evangelical beliefs. He was the archbishop of Canterbury from 1991 to 2002. Carey left school at age 15 and served as a radio operator in the Royal Air Force from 1954 to 1956.
