  1. Princess Gertrude of Hanau and Hořowitz (née Falkenstein; 18 May 1803 – 9 July 1882), was a German aristocrat. She was the morganatic spouse of Frederick William, Elector of Hesse.

  4. On 26 June 1831 Frederick William was morganatically married to Gertrude Falkenstein Lehmann (1803–1882). She had been born in Bonn and was a daughter of apothecary Johann Gottfried Falkenstein and his wife, Magdalena Schulz.

  5. Gertrude Falkenstein was the daughter of an apothecary from Bonn. Her father died early and her mother married again. On 29 May 1822 she married Karl Michael Lehmann (1787-1882), a lieutenant in the Prussian army.

  7. Married morganatically Gertrude Falkenstein (1803 – 1882) created Countess of Schaumburg in 1831 and Princess of Hanau and to Horowitz in 1853, daughter of Johann Gottfried Falkenstein. Their sons were Counts von Schaumburg and later Princes of Hanau.
