Archduke Rainer of Austria (30 September 1783 – 16 January 1853) was a Viceroy of the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia from 1818 to 1848. He was also an Archduke of Austria, Prince Royal of Hungary and Bohemia. Biography. Rainer was a son of Emperor Leopold II and Empress Maria Luisa, and was thus a younger brother of Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor .

Era hijo del Emperador Leopoldo II y de la Infanta María Luisa de Borbón. Raniero sirvió como Virrey del Reino de Lombardía-Venecia desde 1818 hasta 1848. La posición que tenía era de pocas responsabilidades administrativas, pero hizo de Raniero y su esposa la cabeza de la corte austriaca en Milán.
Contrajo matrimonio en Praga el 28 de mayo de 1820 con la Princesa Isabel de Saboya-Carignano (París,13 de abril de 1800 - Bozen, 25 de diciembre de 1856). Ella era la hermana del Príncipe de Carignano, quien en 1831 llegó a ser Rey de Cerdeña como el Rey Carlos Alberto.
