Charles Adolphus Murray, 7th Earl of Dunmore VD DL (24 March 1841 – 27 August 1907), styled Viscount Fincastle from birth until 1845, was a Scottish peer, Conservative politician, explorer, author, and artist.
THE EARL OF DUNMORE (Charles Adolphus Murray, seventh Earl of Dunmore), was a noted hunter, traveler, explorer, and author of books on India and Central Asia. He was a distinguished officer in the British Army and also served Queen Victoria as a lord-in-waiting.
Description. In 1892, the explorer and spy, Charles Murray, 7th Earl of Dunmore, travelled through the Pamir mountains in Afghanistan and Tajikistan (then part of Russian Turkestan) on a surveying expedition to define the borders in the region.
