His contributions include the entropy function formalism for extremal black holes and its applications to attractors. His recent important works include the attractor mechanism and the precision counting of microstates of black holes, and new developments in string perturbation theory.
Welcome to my web page. My name is Ashoke Sen and I work at the International Center for Theoretical Sciences . in Bangalore. My area of research is string theory, -- a theory that tries to give a unified description of all matter and the forces between them based on the postulate that the elementary constituents of matter are tiny one dimensional (string-like) objects instead of point particles.

Ashoke Sen is Professor at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad. He received his PhD from the SUNY at Stony Brook in 1982. He has made pioneering contributions to the development of string theory. He has been awarded the ICTP prize in 1989, S S Bhatnagar Award in 1994 and the Third World Academy prize in 1997.
