Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg (2 de enero de 1783 - Copenhague, 22 de julio de 1853) fue un pintor clasicista danés, llamado "El padre de la pintura danesa". Biografía. Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg (2 January 1783 – 22 July 1853) was a Danish painter. He was born in Blåkrog in the Duchy of Schleswig (now in Aabenraa Municipality, in the southern part of Jutland in Denmark).
Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg was born in 1783 in Schleswig, more specifically the little place Blåkrog, and later the family moved to Blans near the fjord at Als. The father had several professions, including: carpenter, interior painter and boat builder.
After his election as professor at the Royal Danish Academy in 1818, Eckersberg began to inspire the next generation of painters--Kobke, Lundbye, and others--by encouraging them to make sorties into the countryside around Copenhagen.
