1 de jun. de 2024 · Recognized in his own time and also today as a leading scholar of the origins and development of the Septuagint and its sources, Paul de Lagarde (1827—1892) was a vituperative German nationalist and an antisemite whose writings inspired the National Socialist (Nazi) ideology.
His German Writings, published between 1876 and 1881, made him one of the most famous critics of Bismarckian Germany, especially its liberalism and the allegedly harmfal influence of foreigners, particularlyJews (though his anti-Semitism remained ‘ethical’ rather than biological).
