Henry Fielding (22 April 1707 – 8 October 1754) was an English writer and magistrate known for the use of humour and satire in his works. [1] . His 1749 comic novel The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling was a seminal work in the genre. Along with Samuel Richardson, Fielding is seen as the founder of the traditional English novel.

Biografía de Henry Fielding. Escritor y dramaturgo inglés nacido en Sharpham Park, Somerset, el 22 de abril de 1707, y fallecido en Lisboa el 8 de octubre de 1754. Fue hermano de la también escritora Sarah Fielding. Es considerado, junto a Samuel Richardson, como uno de los iniciadores de la novela inglesa.
Henry Fielding nació el 22 de abril de 1707 en Sharpham Park, Somerset (Gran Bretaña). Cursó estudios en Eton y en Leyden (Países Bajos). Fue empresario y autor teatral en Londres entre 1729 y 1737. De las 25 obras de teatro de distintos géneros que escribió, la más conocida es Pulgarcito (1730).
