  1. Tadamasa Hayashi (林 忠正, 1853–1906) was a Japanese art dealer who introduced traditional Japanese art such as ukiyo-e to Europe. Tadamasa was born to the Nagasaki family of physicians. When he was still a child, he was adopted into the Hayashi family, an upper-class samurai family of Toyama-han .

  2. Tadamasa Hayashi (1853-1906) was one of the first ambassadors of Japanese culture in France. He arrived in Paris in 1878 to interpret for the art dealer and curator Kenzaburô Wakaï at the Universal Exhibition. In 1883 he opened a shop selling "japonaiserie" which attracted a large number of enthusiasts.

  3. The collection also includes related letters and other documents, letters and memoranda that Hayashi wrote, and other reference materials.
