Elisabeth Pepys (née de St Michel; 23 October 1640 – 10 November 1669) was the wife of Samuel Pepys, whom she married in 1655, shortly before her fifteenth birthday. Her father, Alexandre Marchant de St Michel, was born a French Roman Catholic but later converted to the Church of England.

Samuel Pepys FRS ( / piːps /; [1] 23 February 1633 – 26 May 1703) was an English diarist and naval administrator. He served as administrator of the Royal Navy and Member of Parliament, but is most remembered today for the diary he kept for almost a decade.
Pepys’s diary is an important source for our understanding of the development of the English language, and is cited over 1700 times in the Oxford English Dictionary. Intimate descriptions of Elizabeth Pepys’s ‘terms’, or periods, are recorded several times in the diary.
