海軍大佐 （かいぐんたいさ [注 1] 、 英語: Captain ）は、 海軍 の 大佐 。 海軍中佐 の上、 海軍少将 、 海軍准将 、 海軍代将 または 海軍上級大佐 の下。 「キャプテン」の系譜 [ 編集] イギリス海軍 において、日本の「海軍大佐」（一等海佐）に相当する階級が「キャプテン」（ captain ）である [3] 。 これは、階級制度が整備される以前の イングランド王国 海軍では 配置 を基準として 海軍士官 の補職を行っており、後に配置と階級のヒエラルキーが整合されるようになっても、その時代の配置名がそのまま階級の呼称として残されたものである [3] 。
概要. 北大西洋条約機構 の階級符号では、 OF-5 に相当する。 概ね陸軍におけるカーネル (Colonel)、海軍におけるキャプテン (Captain) に相当し [注釈 1] 、中国語においては上校 [3] ､大韓民国では大領と称する。 スイス軍 では大佐が平時における最高位とされ、准将に相当するBrigadier（旅団長）、少将に相当するDivisionär（師団長）、および中将に相当するKorpskommandant（軍団指揮官）はあくまでも大佐の職位である。 陸軍 では主に 連隊長 等を務めており、連隊を廃止している国では、 旅団長 を務める場合も見られる。
