Bailrigg is the campus of Lancaster University, in the City of Lancaster, Lancashire, England, 2.5 mi (4.0 km) south of the centre of Lancaster. [1] [2] The student radio station Bailrigg FM is named after the site.

The purpose-built campus occupies Bailrigg, a 360-acre (0.563 sq mi; 1.457 km 2) site [17] donated by Lancaster City Council in 1963. [18] The campus buildings are located on a hilltop, the lower slopes of which are landscaped parkland which includes Lake Carter duck pond and the university sports fields.
Ancient settlement. The University is located on an area known as Bailrigg, a hamlet within the town of Scotforth, which lies two miles south of Lancaster. The name Bailrigg has two possible meanings, it signifies either a living space or something that is adjacent to a ridge or boundary.
The Lancaster University campus occupies a beautiful 560-acre parkland site at Bailrigg, just three miles from Lancaster city centre. Our Bailrigg campus is open to all, and members of the local community are welcome to use and enjoy many of our facilities and events.
Where is Bailrigg? Bailrigg is located in the county of Lancashire, North West England, two miles south of the city of Lancaster, 17 miles north-east of the major town of Blackpool, 135 miles south of Edinburgh, 176 miles north of Cardiff, and 206 miles north-west of London. Bailrigg lies six miles south of the Cumbria border.
