Chivalry, or the chivalric language, is an informal and varying code of conduct developed in Europe between 1170 and 1220. It is associated with the medieval Christian institution of knighthood, with knights being members of various chivalric orders; [1] [2] knights' and gentlemen's behaviours were governed by chivalrous social codes.
The Order of the Dragon (Latin: Societas Draconistarum, literally "Society of the Dragonists") was a monarchical chivalric order only for selected higher aristocracy and monarchs, founded in 1408 by Sigismund of Luxembourg, who was then King of Hungary and Croatia (r. 1387–1437) and later became Holy Roman Emperor (r. 1433–1437).

Established (or rather, reconstituted) in the year 1408, it was the brainchild of Sigismund of Luxembourg, who was then the King of Hungary and would later become Holy Roman Emperor.
