Derenik-Ashot of Vaspurakan. Derenik-Ashot Artsruni ( Armenian: Դերենիկ-Աշոտ Արծրունի, died 958/959) was the second King of Vaspurakan, from the Artsruni dynasty, succeeding his father, Gagik I, on the latter's death. He died childless in 958/959 and was succeeded by his younger brother Abusahl-Hamazasp.

Gagik died in 943 and was succeeded by his son Derenik-Ashot, who died without an heir in 953. He was succeeded by his brother Abusahl-Hamazasp , upon whose death the kingdom was divided among his three sons: Ashot-Sahak , Gurgen-Khachik and Senekerim-Hovhannes . [7]

Derenik-Ashot Artsruni ( armenio : 괳 ր ր ָ ւ օ , fallecido en 958/959) fue el segundo rey de Vaspurakan , de la dinastía Artsruni , y sucedió a su padre, Gagik I , a la muerte de este último. Murió sin hijos en 958/959 y fue sucedido por su hermano menor Abusahl-Hamazasp . [1]
[citation needed] Upon the death of Grigor-Derenik in 887, Gagik Apumrvan Artsruni became regent of Vaspurakan (and later ishksan) and was given Grigor-Derenik's three children Gagik, Ashot-Sargis, and Gurgen.
