Edward Harley, 2nd Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer (2 June 1689 – 16 June 1741) was an English Tory politician and peer who sat in the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1711 to 1724. Early life. Edward Harley was born on 2 June 1689. He was the only son of Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer and his first wife Elizabeth Foley.
Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer was a title in the Peerage of Great Britain. It was created in 1711 for the statesman Robert Harley, with remainder, failing heirs male of his body, to those of his grandfather, Sir Robert Harley.

8 de sept. de 2023 · Edward Harley, 2nd Earl of Oxford and Mortimer and Baron Harley of Wigmore is buried in the vault of the Duke of Newcastle in Westminster Abbey. The vault is in the St John the Evangelist's chapel. He was the only son of Robert, 1st Earl of Oxford and his first wife Elizabeth (Foley) and was born 2nd June 1689.
Edward Harley, son of Robert, 1st Earl of Oxford and Mortimer, married well to the only daughter and heir of the 1st Duke of Newcastle upon Tyne, who brought a fortune of half a million pounds.
