German studies is the field of humanities that researches, documents and disseminates German language and literature in both its historic and present forms. Academic departments of German studies often include classes on German culture, German history, and German politics in addition to the language and literature component.
Oxford German Studies is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal covering German studies. It was established in 1965 and was published by Maney Publishing (formerly the Modern Humanities Research Association ), until its takeover by Taylor & Francis, where it is now published under their imprint Routledge.

The Department of German Studies offers a variety of programs in German language and linguistics, literature, culture, and thought. Courses are open to majors and all interested students. Candidates are accepted for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy.
German Studies Review is a triannual peer-reviewed academic journal affiliated with the German Studies Association and published by Johns Hopkins University Press. [1] It was established in 1978 and publishes articles on the history, literature, language, culture and politics of German-speaking Europe.
German Studies at Heidelberg University is a comprehensive programme that includes components of Modern German Literature, Linguistics, and Medieval Studies (Ancient Language and Literature). Knowledge of language and literature are the common focus of research and instruction and will be studied in an alternation with each other.
