Granary Square is a large open space in the London Borough of Camden. Comparable in size to Trafalgar Square , [1] it is part of the larger King's Cross Central development. It has been cited as an example of a privately owned public space in London. [2]
12 de jul. de 2012 · King’s Boulevard, opened last September, now brings people from two stunning stations into the heart of King’s Cross – Granary Square – which sits beside the canal and in front of the wonderful Granary Building, now beautifully restored for Central Saint Martins.
Five of these are major new squares - Granary Square, Station Square, Pancras Square, Cubitt Square, and North Square - which together total 8 acres (3.2 ha). In addition, the proposals include 6.5 acres (2.6 ha) of new public realm along the Regent's Canal (the Gas Holders Zone and Coal Drops Yard [22] and within a new " Cubitt Park ".
In September 2011 the University of the Arts London moved to the Granary Complex. A whole series of new public squares and gardens have opened, among them Granary Square with its spectacular fountains, Lewis Cubitt Park and Square and the new Gasholder Park.
Positioned on a sharp bend in the Regent's Canal north of King's Cross Station, Granary Sq is at the heart of a major redevelopment of a 27-hectare expanse, once full of abandoned freight warehouses and an enormous granary.
Opening in 2012 to coincide with the London Olympics, Granary Square is a new pedestrian piazza which lies at the heart of the vast Kings Cross regeneration project in central London.
London. N1C 4AA. About. Enjoy the cafes, restaurants, bars and dancing fountains at Granary Square in King’s Cross. Pause for some people-watching from a cafe terrace, or simply watch the boats pass by from the steps bordering the Regent’s Canal. In the summer months, the steps are carpeted green.
