The Historia Gruffud Vab Kenan, also known as The History of Gruffudd ap Cynan, is a medieval Welsh text about the king of Gwynedd Gruffudd ap Cynan.
Gruffudd ap Cynan ab Owain Gwynedd was the grandson of Owain Gwynedd, a famous king of Gwynedd and ruler of most of Wales in the 12th century. The longer patronymic form of his name is usually used to distinguish him from the earlier and better-known Gruffudd ap Cynan, king of Gwynedd.
Angharad married Gruffudd ap Cynan, the king of Gwynedd (and her sixth cousin once removed), around 1095. They had three sons: Cadwallon (who died in 1132, before his father), Owain Gwynedd, and Cadwaladr. They also had five daughters: Gwenllian, Marared, Rainillt, Susanna, and Annest.
