Henriette Amalia von Anhalt-Dessau, by Louis Volders. c. 1695. In 1696, following the death of her husband Hendrik Casimir II (1657–1696), Henriette Amalia von Anhalt-Dessau became regent on behalf of her son Johan Willem Friso (1687–1711), and she held this post until he came of age in 1707.
Princess Amalia of Nassau-Dietz (Anna Charlotte Amalie; 23 October [O.S. 13 October] 1710 – 18 September 1777) was a Dutch princess and the wife of Frederick, Hereditary Prince of Baden-Durlach, and mother of Charles Frederick, the first Grand Duke of Baden.
Her father was Johan George II of Anhalt-Dessau. Henriette Amalia married her cousin Hendrik (Henry) Casimir II, stadtholder of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe. Hendrik Casimir was often in conflict with his cousin, King-Stadtholder Willem III of Orange.
