John Propert DL (19 July 1793 – 9 September 1867) was a Welsh physician who made a successful career in Westminster and is chiefly remembered for founding the Medical Benevolent College at Epsom, Surrey, now called Epsom College.

The school was founded in 1853 by John Propert as the Royal Medical Benevolent College, with the aim to provide accommodation for pensioned medical doctors or their widows and to provide a "liberal education" to 100 sons of "duly qualified medical men" for £25 each year.

In 1851, Dr John Propert was moved to establish a school to help widowed medical families, naming it The Medical Benevolent College. The name changed to Epsom College in 1910, but benevolence has remained at the heart of the College to this day.
