Mariota, Countess of Ross (Mairead, also called Mary and Margaret; died 1440) was the daughter of Euphemia I, Countess of Ross and her husband, the crusading war-hero Walter Leslie, Lord of Ross.
Though she was nominally Countess of Ross, Ross's governance was carried out by her grandfather, the ruthless and ambitious Robert, Duke of Albany. Euphemia's uncle Donald, Lord of the Isles , had a superior claim by right of his wife, Mariota Leslie.
When Mariota Leslie Countess of Ross was born in 1363, in Leslie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, her father, Walter Leslie Lord of Ross, was 42 and her mother, Euphemia I Countess of Ross, was 19. She married Donald Macdonald Lord of the Isles on 8 October 1395, in Dingwall, Ross-shire, Scotland.
