Max Forrester Eastman (January 4, 1883 – March 25, 1969) was an American writer on literature, philosophy and society, a poet and a prominent political activist. Moving to New York City for graduate school, Eastman became involved with radical circles in Greenwich Village.

Max Eastman (born Jan. 12, 1883, Canandaigua, N.Y., U.S.—died March 25, 1969, Bridgetown, Barbados) was an American poet, editor, and prominent radical before and after World War I. Eastman was educated at Williams College, Williamstown, Mass., graduating in 1905.

In July 1913, in the aftermath of the Paint Creek–Cabin Creek strike of 1912 in West Virginia, Max Eastman wrote an editorial in The Masses accusing the Associated Press of "having suppressed and colored the news of that strike in favor of the employers".
