Mercersburg is a borough in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, United States. The borough is 72 miles (116 km) southwest of Harrisburg, the state capital. Due to its location in a rural area, it had a relatively large percentage of African-American workers who had been enslaved from the Revolution.

The Borough of Mercersburg is located in southwestern Franklin County just 4 miles north of the Mason Dixon line. The borough was incorporated in 1831 and named after General Hugh Mercer, a decorated French and Indian War and Revolutionary War veteran.
The borough of Mercersburg lies along part of the northern edge of the township. Two Top Mountain, Claylick Mountain, Kasies Knob, and Rickard Mountain, all part of the Bear Pond Mountains, are located in the southern part of the township.
Mercersburg is situated in the south-central area of the Cumberland Valley in Pennsylvania four miles north of the Mason-Dixon line, twenty miles northwest of Hagerstown, Maryland, and twenty miles southwest of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
