Rheinberg (German: [ˈʁaɪnbɛʁk] ⓘ) is a town in the district of Wesel, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the Rhine, approx. 10 kilometres (6 miles) north of Moers and 15 km (9 miles) south of Wesel. It comprises the municipal districts of Rheinberg, Borth, Budberg, and Orsoy.
Rheinberg hieß ursprünglich Berke (frühe Belege stammen aus den Jahren 1003, 1106, 1253) oder Berka (belegt seit 1248). Den erklärenden Zusatz Rhein- erhielt der Ortsname erst im späten 16. Jahrhundert (erstmals 1583 belegt), wohl um Berk als Berk am Rhein von anderen Orten namens Berk oder Berg zu unterscheiden.
