Ric Waite (July 10, 1933 – February 18, 2012) was an American cinematographer whose numerous film and television credits included Red Dawn, Footloose, 48 Hrs., and The Long Riders. Waite received four Emmy nominations during his career. He won his only Emmy for his work on the 1976 television miniseries Captains and the Kings.

Trivia. Prior to film work, he worked as a fashion and advertising photographer, operating his own studio in New York. In Hollywood from 1970 as cinematographer, mostly for television. Retired to Denver in 2002, lecturing in cinematography at the Colorado Film School. Close friend of actress Goldie Hawn.

He later had recurring roles as two other heroic fathers; in NCIS as Jackson Gibbs, the father of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and in Bones, as Seeley Booth 's grandfather.
