Shipton Moyne is a village and civil parish in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, approximately 105 miles west of London. Its nearest towns are Tetbury (3 miles north), also in Gloucestershire, and Malmesbury (3 miles southeast) in Wiltshire . [1]
Shipton Moyne is a village with a long history, dating back to at least 1086, when the name Shipton was first mentioned. The two families most associated with Shipton Moyne are the families of Estcourt and Hodges.
Shipton Moyne is an ancient Gloucestershire village close to Westonbirt Arboretum and to Tetbury and Malmesbury. The Fosse Way forms not only part of the parish boundary but of the county boundary with Wiltshire, and until 1930 Shipton Moyne was actually part of Wiltshire.
SHIPTON MOYNE. The rural parish of Shipton Moyne lies 2½ miles south of Tetbury and 3 miles north-west of Malmesbury. The ancient parish contained 2,360 a. and was compact in shape.
Some windows and doorways in The Street of Shipton Moyne seem to be of much older origin and may have come from the old 1588 house. Nearly all traces of that house had disappeared by 1826, though the outline can be seen in old aerial photographs.

Hace 5 días · The manor of SHIPTON MOYNE, although in 1463 it was said to be held by knight service and in the late 16th and early 17th centuries was assessed at 1/40 fee, continued in fact to be held by the serjeanty, but the right to exercise the office of larderer was disputed with the holder of other estates.
