Sophia Eleonore of Saxony (23 November 1609 – 2 June 1671) was a duchess of Saxony by birth and the landgravine of Hesse-Darmstadt from 1627 to 1661 through her marriage to Landgrave George II. She was the eldest surviving child of John George I, Elector of Saxony, and Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia.

Anna Sophia was a daughter of George II, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and Duchess Sophia Eleonore of Saxony. She was raised as a Lutheran, received a good education and grew up to be strictly religious.

The daughter of John George I, Elector of Saxony and Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia, she was one of ten children.
Sophie Eleonore (also Sofie Eleonore or Sophia Eleonore) was the second but eldest surviving child of Johann Georg I, Elector of Saxony (Kurfürst von Sachsen) and his wife, Magdalene Sibylle von Brandenburg and was born 23 November 1609 at Dresden. [1] . She was apparently christened at Dresden on 17 December 1609. [2]
