Thomas William Anson, 1st Earl of Lichfield was born on 20 October 1795. He was baptised at Colwich, Staffordshire, England. He was the son of Thomas Anson, 1st Viscount Anson and Lady Anne Margaret Coke. He married Louisa Catherine Philips, daughter of Nathaniel Philips, on 11 February 1819.
